Individual special editions
Historically, BMW has been using the brand "Individual" in order to showcase their exclusive capabilities.

How to spot real individual cars vs. cars with some extras from individual catalogue
Lots of Z3 have Individual specific extras, from the individual catalogue. These can go from big and expensive extras, such as ///M Seats in a non-M, to very specific requests from the customer such as a specific brand of tires...BMW Individual can do anything.

On top of that, BMW offered full individual cars / special editions, called Individual editions, with specific names (see below).

Those are special editions limited in time, but not in number. The sales of the period when they were produced determined the amount of each version. Today, the number of units of each model is known only by BMW, however there are versions that are more common than others.
As a general rule, it is today very hard to find a genuine individual edition, not just a car with a few individual extras. And even more in a good shape and with low mileage.


Individual editions based on the mk1 Z3

Z3 Roadster Individual "Orinocco" - Z3 1.9 or 2.8 Roadster

...

Exterior Special green color with touches of grey, this color couldn't be ordered separately (406- Orinoco). White indicators, and normally a beige hood. Interior The interior is one of the nicest I have ever seen, and could not be ordered in other Z3's. It is a combination of beige plastics and cream leather, together with wood. The seats are normal seats (never sport seats) with a green leather piping / edge. If ordered with extended leather, the extended parts were green (!).

Z3 Roadster Individual "Bella Macchina" - Z3 2.8 Roadster
...	Exterior An elegant black sapphire paint, with 17" style 18 BMW wheels, white indicators, and black hood. Interior This interior could not be ordered in other Z3's. It is a very exclusive color called Arizona Sun, with M seats. It also had a special wood trim. We know two individual M roadsters with this interior (custom request).

Z3 Roadster Individual "American Style " - Z3 1.9 or 2.8 Roadster
...	Exterior A special blue color, with nice 17 inch style 18 wheels, lots of chromed details, and white indicators. Interior Together with the bella macchina, it's the only mk1 individual with M seats, in "Tintenblau" color.

Z3 Roadster Individual "British Traditional " - Z3 1.9 or 2.8 Roadster
...	Exterior The classic Oxford green paint, with 17" wheels, white indicators, and a very nice green hood. Interior Very nice interior with champagne seats (normal shape), and a clear wood only available in this special model.

Z3 Roadster Individual "Japan" - Z3 1.9 o 2.8 Roadster
...	Exterior A very rare color called "Sundown", that varies with the intensity of the light. It also had white indicators, and a black hood. Interior Another very rare color in the interior called "Cassis", with extended leather. It had normal seats with a darker piping / edge.

Z3 Roadster Individual "Dakkar" - Z3 1.9 o 2.8 Roadster
...	Exterior No specific exterior signs except from the color. Interior The dakkar individual always has black normal seats, however they have a yellow piping / edge as a differentiation.

Z3 Roadster Individual "Fidji Green " - Z3 1.9 o 2.8 Roadster
...	Exterior A love or hate color called Fidji green, with the usual white indicators. Interior It has an exclusive leather with a specific interior pattern, and the usual piping / edge in the same color as the body.

Individual editions based on the mk2 Z3
The distinctive touch of the mk2 individual models are the ///M door mirrors, and the bottom of the steering wheel which is usually the same color as the interior.

Z3 Roadster Individual "Kyalami" - Z3 1.9i, 2.2i o 3.0i Roadster
...	Exterior A classy Sapphire black paint, with M door mirrors, 17" style 32 wheels, white indicators, and black hood.. Interior A sporty interior with M seats, with the opposite color pattern of the Bella macchina. The arizona sun leather is on the exterior of the seats, It also had a wooden console.

Z3 Roadster Individual "Estoril " - Z3 1.9i, 2.2i o 3.0i Roadster
...	Exterior ///M estoril blue color, with M side mirrors 17" wheels, and a blue or black hood. Interior The interior had normal or sport seats with some estoril touches like the bottom of the steering wheel or the gear lever boot. It had a matt aluminum center console (not the brushed one from the sport edition).

Z3 Roadster Individual "San Remo " - Z3 1.9i, 2.2i o 3.0i Roadster
...	Exterior This is the most common mk2 individual. It has a silver paint, M wheels, 17" wheels and white indicators. The hood was blue or black. Interior Sporty M seats with the exterior part in blue, like on the M coupe and roadster with estoril interior.

Z3 Roadster Individual "Imola" - Z3 1.9i, 2.2i o 3.0i Roadster
...	Exterior A classy Black sapphire paint, with M door mirros, 17" wheels, white indicators, and a black o red hood. Interior It has the same interior of the S50 M roadster / coupe Imola. It also had the matt aluminium console, and the bottom of the steering wheel in red.

Z3 Roadster Individual "Mugello" - Z3 1.9i y 2.2i Roadster
...	Exterior Black paint, normal (non M) suspension. There is not much more known about this version. Interior This is the only mk2 individual with no sport seats. It has normal seats with the black piping, and also a special red wood for the console.
